(a) Two Khataka Mukha hands are to be held eight Angulas away from the chest while the shoulders and elbows are on the same level. This is called Caturaśra.
Caturasra—two Kaṭakāmukha hands held forward eight Aṅgulīs away [from one’s chest] the two shoulders and elbows on the same level.
Two Katakamukha hands, at a distance of eight fingers from the chest and with their elbows and shoulders in the same level and facing forward are called Caturasra.
Caturaśra (square): Kaṭaka-mukha hands are held before the chest. Patron deity Varahi.
churning, Jakkini natana, holding, milking, covering with cloths, wearing pearls, dragging ropes, tying the girdle, tying the bodice, holding flowers, etc., plying the fly-whisk.
Holding the two Katakamukha hastas before the chest is known as Caturaśra (=square) hasta.
This hasta is used to denote the following: churning, Jakkini natana, holding, milking, covering with cloth, wearing pearls, dragging ropes etc., tying the girdle, tying the bodice, holding flowers etc., plying the fly-whisk.
Caturastra: The hands which are in the Khaṭakāmukha Hasta are kept in level with the shoulders and the elbows face outwards and are at a distance of eight angulas from the chest.
Caturaśra: In caturaśra the katakasya hasta formed and spread out in front.
In caturaśra hasta, the kaṭakāmukha hastas are held with shoulders and elbows in a straight line like that drawn by an artist
In sausthava, the hastas are eight away from the chest, facing the viewer.
It can be used to depict arrangement of flower garlands attractively, Lord Visnu, etc.
The caturaśra position of hands is held with haṁsapakṣa hastas at the chest in udvestita karma.
If the two Khatakamukhas are placed eight angulas away from the heart, the two elbows being held straight, it is Caturasra hasta.
If two khaṭakāmukhas facing away from each other, are placed at the chest with eight aṅgulas (Indian inches) in between, such that the elbows are even with shoulders, it is declared to be caturasra.
When the shoulders and the elbows [required for] khatakamukha hands held at the same level face forward at a distance of eight inches from the chest, it is known as caturasra.
It is used in pulling a pearl necklace and a flower garland etc.
