Biography
Elizabeth Kelly (aka Lakskhmi Amman) has studied:
- Bharata Natyam since 2000
- Kalaripayattu since 2006
- Carnatic music for 3 years
- Belly dance in an American style since 1998
- Capoeira, Swing dance, various Latin dances, and many others
- Violin, Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern in a Western style in her early years
She's performed Bharata Natyam in the Society for Creative Anachronism and around the US and in India, performing her Arangetram in 2016 at the Boston Center for the Arts. She is also a founding member and the lead choregrapher of the Boston Beautease Burlesque Troupe, having taught and performed Burlesque since 2005.
When she's not taking or teaching dance classes, or in rehearsals - she's also a manager of web based software development in high tech and spends her spare time collecting dance treastises. She wrote the code for this tool and website in Django Python to help correlate the vast amount of information on the history of Indian classical dance styles and make it more generally available to all.
